Sunset light, casting a golden hue across a mountain scene in late summer along Alaska's Dalton Highway, in sunset light, casting a golden hue across the terrain. This feature is found in one of the most remote portions of Alaska. The terrain is incredibly rugged, and the valley floors are covered by pine forests!

The Dalton Highway is an improved dirt road extending from the Fairbanks area some 414 miles to Deadhorse, adjacent to Prudhoe Bay, and surprisingly there are areas where the speed limit is incredible 55 miles per hour. The road was constructed to support the oil pipeline, and the road permits access to incredible views such as this one! The road has been made popular by cable/satellite television series, Ice Road Truckers.
