A friend, my wife, and I spent an evening to take a jaunt up Little Cottonwood Canyon, to visit the Albion Basin -- a feature situated among Alta Ski Resort. A mile hike up from the trailhead is Cecret Lake. Like many other times, the sky was a dull overcast layer with even, boring light. Our party sat down, patiently waiting for sunset. An hour passed, then just a minute or two after official sunset, light began to reflect off the cloud layer, and a moment later the sky began to blaze! The memory was special and sacred, a little secret in Utah.
