Description
"Dusk over Utah Valley" [2.5:1]
Utah Valley, Utah, USA
1302-4-1847
After-sunset view from *Point of the Mountain* southeastward toward Mount Timpanogos. This stretch of the Wasatch Range runs north and south along the east bench of Utah Valley. Mount Timpanogos reaches 11,752 feet (3,582 meters) and is the highest peak in the Wasatch Front. Encompassed in the view are the cities of Alpine, Pleasant Grove, American Fork, and Orem. The so-called *inversion* covers the skies of the valley floor with fog, dirty air that is trapped into the colder bottoms by warm air aloft. I particularly appreciate this vantage point, as it brings the viewer upward, making the mountains seem much less daunting than reality. This viewpoint will not be accessible to the public much longer, as development creeps each year, with the best views being claimed at premium prices.
