Winter sunset at the Fire Wave. The Fire Wave is a feature located within Valley of Fire State Park in southern Nevada. This landmark is so-named based on the fact that its red and white sandstone lines *wave* through its geology. This particular area of the park is known widely for its more pastel coloration. Gratefully my group was alone this evening, as the previous evening was loaded with visitors, probably in the number of 20+, making shooting very difficult.
Valley of Fire is Nevada's first state park, and was dedicated in 1935. The park comprises some 42,000 acres. The sandstone's origins date back to the dinosaur era, and was originally a vast landscape of moving sand dunes.

I've seen photos of the Wave quite a bit too, but this is a new slant. Well done.
Chad Dutson replied:
Thanks Lyle! I definitely was not as pleased with the "traditional" capture, so had to try a new angle! Appreciate it!

Love the contrast in colors and the lines in the rock and clouds. Congrats on 3 features in the same day!
