The Colorado Plateau has many features, among them Canyonlands National Park. The area has worldwide acclaim for its incredible desert beauty, yet most who take the time to visit the area fail to see this wonder in its winter splendor.

Upon my visit on this occasion with three fellow photographers, the sun settled slowly until it had disappeared completely. The color was almost flat. We waited patiently. Evanescence. But then suddenly the sky came ablaze, creating a magical winter wonderland!
