Although I visited Washington in early summer, the enduring winter just seemed to linger in the Cascade Mountains. Snow persisted in glacier-like patterns throughout the forest. So glad I decided to wear long pants! The air was filled in a bone-chilling breeze, and the area was covered in an overcast layer. Just as I was about to give up on the light, a little glimmer of sunset's rays cast through the layer onto Mount Shuksan. I pointed the camera in that direction and captured this shot.
